PAX Memories and Update

Happy Pax East Weekend Everyone!

Our hopes and dreams are to be attending next year showing off some finished projects and perhaps demoing some projects in development. We'd love to get a chance to meet everyone and just talk games! I attended the first two Pax East Events and they are very special. As a kid I had always read about game conventions like E3 and desperately wanted to go to one. Though much later in life, when I found out that one was coming close to me my friends and I had to go. It was simply one of the best weekends in Gaming ever for me. Even though I am not the type to wait in several hour long lines to check out the newest games, I loved the atmosphere. I spent most of my time playing retro games and playing in the free arcade area as well as checking out different panels and it was really something special. What really made this makes me laugh to this day is my friends and I sneaking in a Red Balloon. This was shortly after Heavy Rain came out so just walking around and hearing people yell "JAAASSOOONN!!!!" made us laugh all day. That combined with a fluke meeting of a game personality that I was a fan of really made the trip the memorable. Can't wait to make it back there.

Progress on the game continues in several areas. I was able to play through the previously mentioned side quest and it all seems great to me. Rob built a great back story and atmosphere for one of the characters. He did a great job! I was also able to capture roughly 40 minutes of master footage that I am going to parse down to make the rough cut trailer that I have mentioned before, the time line on that is still soonish.(sorry!) I also have been able to work on mapping some of the demo maps but have a lot of work left to do there. My plan is to dedicate more time to it this weekend but I am not sure how much time I can dedicate fully. I will do my best though. I have a plan on a blog entry called "Making a Map" that I would like to post. That is my goal for sometime next week unless my progress moves faster than anticipated. I'd like to show what a blank sheet looks like and how it comes together to be something cohesive. The plan is also to hang out with my brother this weekend which can mean a whole lot of things. We might blast through some of this games agenda items, take a break a play a game from a back log (see below) or who knows what else! The last he mentioned to me he was building AI's and applying machine learning to them. They may have taken over SkyNet style by then so this could all be for nothing! :)

Stay Warm Boston! Its going to be cold for PAX East!

PS

Family Man + Game in Development + Crazy Good Release Schedule for last 5 months or so and this is what your back log looks like. Plus I am missing some good games too (as well as some not pictured) and Mass Effect comes out later this month! Its a good time to be a gamer.
